Goodreads Summary: Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them. Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket. Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking. But when Cara’s classmates get swept up by anti-L’eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn’t safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara’s locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class. Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she’s fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

I loved this book! It was a change from what I normally read so I wasn’t really sure if I would like it, but I completely fell in love with it! It got more serious as the story went on but there were just parts throughout the book that made it so light and entertaining. I loved the little funny parts throughout the book…they actually had me laughing out loud.

  • He glanced up with a pouty expression. “Something’s wrong with your game. My canine died again.”
  • “What’s this?” He brought the brown square to his nose. “It smells musty.” “It’s chocolate. You’ll love it.” “That’s what you said about Skittles. I vomited a rainbow afterward.”
  • Tugging on her shoulder, he encouraged her to sit up while waving the bowl beneath her nose. “Look what I made for you. A bowl of diabetes.”

I also loved the cover. If I hadn’t found this in a giveaway, I think I would have just picked it up for the cover because it’s beautiful. I was sitting beside my sister when I was almost done reading and she kept asking me how many pages I had left. The last time she asked, I said, I have 30 pages left…it can’t end like this! I’m so excited for the sequel and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

London is used to relying on reminder notes and a trusted friend to get through the day, but things get complicated when a new boy at school enters the picture. Luke Henry is not someone you’d easily forget, yet try as she might, London can’t find him in her memories of things to come. When London starts experiencing disturbing flashbacks, or flash-forwards, as the case may be, she realizes it’s time to learn about the past she keeps forgetting-before it destroys her future.

Goodreads Summary: Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear he’d rather not have anything to do with her either. But when Isobel discovers strange writing in his journal, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with the piercing eyes another look.  Soon, Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends and her possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.  As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined, and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares. His life depends on it.

*Possible Spoilers!*

I liked the second half of this book way more than the first half! The first half to me was a lot of the same thing…just one big fight that was made up of the popular crew (which Isobel was no longer part of) vs. Varen and Isobel. I loved the prologue and I was expecting more Edgar Allan Poe/fantasy aspect throughout the whole book. When Isobel saw a shadow or thought she was being followed, I kept thinking it was going to get more exciting but for me, it just seemed like it took too long to do that. I almost stopped reading this book and I’m not extremely excited to read the next one so that’s why I only gave it 2 bookmarks. If the whole book had been written like the second half, it would have been higher.
